From Chelsea to Arsenal to Tottenham Hotspurs – the UK is home to some of the world’s best football, and each and every year large crowds of international tourists will flock to cities such as London, Manchester and Liverpool to attend games.
The good news is that attending football matches will fall under the ‘tourism and leisure’ activities that visitors to the UK are permitted to engage in.
Depending on your nationality, to visit the UK you will either need to apply for and obtain a visa in advance of travel or, if you are a non-visa national, you may apply for entry as a tourist on arrival at the UK border.
In either case, you will need to satisfy the Home Office or Border Force officer that you are seeking to enter the UK for a permitted purpose, such as tourism or leisure, that you have a clear intention to leave the UK after your visit and that you have sufficient funds to cover your costs in the UK, including the costs of your onward travel.
