Human Rights and Immigration Solicitors

We regularly advise clients in connection with private and family life cases, and we have an in-depth knowledge of the entire range of human rights that may be engaged in an immigration context. We have acted in a wide number of appeals and judicial review challenges where our clients’ fundamental rights were at stake and we have brought several cases in both the UK courts and the European Court of Human Rights.

We also advise frequently on international protection claims and offer a comprehensive service for those who are seeking safety in the UK, whether as a refugee or on humanitarian protection or human rights grounds.

Our experience in this field is second to none and we have an unrivalled track record in succeeding in complex human rights cases, whether at the initial application stage or on appeal. Our successes include challenging decisions on the basis of long residence in the UK, family life in the UK and the need for continuing medical treatment in the UK, amongst other circumstances.

What are Human Rights?

Human rights are the fundamental rights and freedoms that we are all entitled to irrespective of our nationality, race, gender, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation, citizenship, or other status. These rights are universal and are protected in international law.

There are many international treaties and agreements that ensure that countries and states around the world respect and protect people’s human rights.

Our human rights allow us to live as we choose, without abuse, mistreatment or interference from governments and other public bodies.

They protect equal access to fundamental services and institutions such as health care, education, democratic elections, and fair judicial processes.

What is the Human Rights Act 1998?

The Human Rights Act (1998) is the law that ensures the rights set out in the European Convention on Human Rights (ECHR), are enshrined in UK law.

This Act is not the only instrument that protects our human rights in the UK. These, along with our freedoms, are also protected in other domestic laws and by other international human rights treaties, which have been signed and ratified by the UK. This means that the UK has agreed to be legally bound by the laws of these treaties.

We strive to keep up to date with all major developments affecting human rights in the immigration context;
