UK Sports Visas for Athletics
UK Sports Visas for Athletics
UK Athletics (UKA) is recognised by the Home Office as the Governing Body for Endorsement (GBE) requirements for clubs and individual athletes in the UK.
Sponsor Licence
UKA must approve any organisation prior to that organisation applying for a Sponsor Licence.
Governing Body Endorsements in respect of sponsors in Athletics will only be issued to employees of UKA, England Athletics, Scottish Athletics, Welsh Athletics and NI Athletics.
Sports Visitors, which is generally the category for athletes who wish to come to the UK to participate in an event or series of events, should refer to the Sports Visitor section on the home page.
Coaches
UKA will issue a Governing Body Endorsement (GBE) to salaried staff only. Coaches must be of the highest calibre and able to make a significant contribution to the development of GB Athletes at the highest level.
UKA specify that they would expect applicant coaches to have coached elite athletes for at least 3 years and should hold a relevant national or international coaching qualification awarded by a National Governing Body. Evidence of experience must be detailed at the time of requesting a GBE.
Such roles must be advertised for a period of at least 4 weeks in the appropriate publications. Please contact us for further information.
Appeals
UKA does not have a formal appeals process in the event that a GBE is refused, however there is a review system in place on which we are happy to advise further.
