The route is a discretionary type of leave that the Home Office can give to individuals who have established a Private Life in the UK.
Generally, the Home Office will consider Private Life applications from individuals who:
Permission to Stay under the visa route is granted for a period of two and a half years at a time. Immediate settlement can, however, be granted to children born in the UK who have lived in the UK continuously since birth and for at least 7 years.
If you were born outside of the UK and were under the age of 18 when you were first granted leave under the route, you may be eligible to apply for settlement after 5 continuous years in the UK under this visa route.
If you were an adult when you were first granted leave under the Private Life route, you may be eligible to apply for settlement after 10 years in the UK under the Private Life route.
