Experiencing delays with an immigration decision can be stressful and uncomfortable, but the majority of delays encountered by applicants are concerned with an administrative burden that the Home Office may experience for various reasons. There may, however, be instances where a decision is delayed on purpose pending the completion of a criminal investigation because of any potential adverse effects that the latter might have on the outcome of the decision. In this blog, we discuss a recent court case where this point came up on the facts, and the court had to make a determination.

Health and Care Worker Scheme Expanded

Posted: 5 January 2022. The Government has extended its support for the NHS by expanding the Health and Care Worker Visa for at least 12 months to include social care workers, care assistants, home care workers, and support workers in nursing homes. This visa route was introduced in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, allowing medical professionals and their dependants to enter and work in the UK with the NHS, an NHS supplier, or in adult social care. Covid-19 testing requirements eased for travellers entering England

Posted: 6 January 2022. The changes, which were introduced last month to tighten the COVID-19 testing requirements for entry to England in the wake of the emergence of the more spreadable Omicron variant, are now being scaled back to the relief of the travel industry feeling the economic brunt caused by the pandemic. The updated testing requirements will see, among other things, the scrapping of a pre-departure Covid test for fully vaccinated travellers. In this blog, we discuss these latest developments.
