Travellers going to China may no longer transit in Sweden

Posted by: Gherson Immigration

On December 15, the Chinese Embassy in Sweden published an announcement confirming that from December 18, 2021 (Saturday) Express Care at Stockholm Arlanda Airport will no longer be a Chinese Embassy approved test point to conduct PCR tests for passengers travelling to China.

As a result, considering that Stockholm Arlanda Airport does not have any other qualified test points and the strict entry restrictions against foreigners are currently implemented by the Swedish government , the Chinese Embassy in Sweden advises that passengers do not transit through Sweden if possible.

Travellers going to China may no longer transit in Sweden The Chinese Embassy in the UK strongly suggest that those who intend to travel from the UK to China transiting via Sweden in the near future arrange their itinerary accordingly. Flight CA912 on 17 December 2021 will be the last flight which accepts passengers being tested at Stockholm Airport. Thereafter, if any passenger insists on transiting via Sweden, they need to obtain a Swedish entry permit in advance and have a PCR test as the Chinese embassy required following their entries to Sweden and apply for their second health code from the Chinese Embassy in Sweden. People departing from the UK must also apply for their first health code from the Chinese Embassy in the UK as required before leaving from the UK to Sweden.

If you intend to leave the UK and return to China but have not been able to do so due to the above-mentioned changes, and your visa, leave or current ‘exceptional assurance’ will expire before 31 January 2022, please contact us for advice with respect to applying for exceptional assurance.
