UKVCAS to remain open throughout the lockdown period

Posted by: Gherson Immigration

UKVCAS (UK Visa and Citizenship Application Services) have stated on their website that they are providing an essential service and that they are intending to remain open throughout the lockdown period. UKVCAS staff are also now seen as key workers. The service should therefore remain fully operational despite the impending lockdown, due to come into effect tomorrow (5 November 2020).

However, applicants should not attend a UKVCAS appointment if they are supposed to be self-isolating (whether due to contact, symptoms or travel, etc.).

The UKVCAS’ key workers will sit behind perspex screens, wear masks, maintain social distancing and frequently apply hand sanitizer. UKVCAS are also operating enhanced cleaning procedures across all service points. Those attending appointments will need to wear a face covering and follow instructions given by UKVCAS staff. Only those individuals named on the application should attend the appointment (although certain exceptions are permitted).

UKVCAS has advised that vulnerable persons should follow any relevant NHS guidance or advice received from their GP before booking or attending an appointment.
