So what have we been talking about this week?

Are you an employer and considering applying for a sponsor licence to enable you to sponsor migrant workers? Good news: sponsor licence applications can now be expedited via a priority service 

The long awaited news that sponsor licence applications can be expedited was announced on 13 November 2020. The service will cost an additional £500 and if purchased, means a decision could be received within 10 working days.

China announces strict controls over cross-border activity

The Coronavirus pandemic continues to disrupt global travel and the latest example of this was announced by China last week. The Deputy Director of the National Immigration Administration announced that all cross-border activity will be strictly controlled in an attempt to prevent the importation of foreign Coronavirus cases.

Key workers and points-based immigration: will the new system cope?

As we approach the end of the year, we come ever closer to the end of free movement for EU nationals, which ends on 31 December 2020. The UK is preparing to introduce a new points-based immigration system which is set to come into force on 1 January 2021.

New National Security and Investment Bill to scrutinise investment in sensitive UK areas

In this blog, we review the National Security and Investment Bill, which was laid before Parliament on 11 November 2020 by the Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy. The aim of the new law is to address national security concerns in respect of certain sensitive assets or organisations being acquired by way of foreign investment.
