Living and Studying in the UK
Depending on your circumstances, you may need permission to come to the UK for less than six months. If you are coming for longer, whether for a permanent or temporary stay, then, if you are not a European Union (EU) national, you will definitely need permission.
Reasons for wanting to live in the UK include being with husbands, wives, partners or other family members, and retiring to the UK. Many people want to come to the UK to study. The reason for coming will determine the type of application you need to make. Some applications are strictly for a temporary stay. Others will mean that if you stay in the UK for long enough you can apply to make it your permanent home. We can assist with all such applications, and with applications to become a British Citizen. The type of application will also be affected by whether you are outside the UK or already in the country when you make your application. Examples of some of the main types of applications appear in the list on the left.
