UKBA to accept points based system applications at public enquiry offices
The UK Border Agency (UKBA) has announced that from 6 April 2009 staff at its public enquiry offices will accept applications for leave to remain in the UK in respect of the following categories of the points based system:
Highly skilled workers Tier 1 (General)
Sponsored skilled workers Tier 2 (General)
Tier 2 (Ministers of Religion)
Tier 2 (Sportsperson)
Tier 2 (Intra-company transfers)
Temporary workers Tier 5 (Creative and sporting)
Tier 5 (Charity workers)
Tier 5 (Religious workers)
Tier 5 (Government exchange)
Tier 5 (International agreement)
These applications can be made at pre-arranged appointments at any of the UKBA's five public enquiry offices, in what the Agency describes as a "premium service".
Appointments can be made now.
Anyone in the UK currently with leave to remain in an immigration category from which it is possible to "switch" into leave in any of these categories of the points based system is strongly advised to seek professional legal advice and assistance in preparing any application for leave to remain.
