It was announced yesterday that ‘regional travel corridors’ will be introduced as part of England’s quarantine rules. This will allow mainland countries, such as Greece and Spain, to be considered as separate from the country’s islands. As an example of this, if arriving in England after 4am on Wednesday 9 September 2020 from one of the following seven Greek islands; Lesvos, Tinos, Serifos, Mykonos, Crete, Santorini and Zakynthos (known as Zante), travellers will be required to self-isolate for 14 days. Mainland Greece, however, is still considered safe and will remain on the list for now. This separation allows different rules to be applied to the mainland versus the islands and in turn encourages travel to places with a lower rate of infection.
The current list of countries from which self-isolation is not required upon return to England can be found here. Please note rules vary between England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.
