Retired Persons of Independent Means

People who are settled ( have Indefinite Leave to Remain - ILR) in the UK can stay in the UK when they retire. If you are not settled, the first thing to be clear about is whether you really want to retire. If you want to continue in employment, or to continue with your business interests, then you will need to look at employment and business options.

You can apply to retire to the UK. You will need to show that you intend to make the UK your main home, have a sufficient annual income and that you will be able to support yourself without relying on State benefits. You will need to show a close connection to the UK.

EU nationals benefit from special provisions.
